Obedience training should be fun and rewarding for you and your dog. It can enrich your relationship and make living together more enjoyable. A well-trained dog is more confident and can more safely be allowed a greater amount of freedom than an untrained one. In addition to bringing you and your pet closer together, dog training helps to instill favorable behaviors in your dog. Training opens up a line of communication between you and your dog. Effective communication is necessary to instruct your dog about what you want her to do. Whatever the age of your dog, the right time to begin training is right now! Experienced trainer Amber Ludwig from the Animal Training and Development Center will get you and your dog on the right track.

Class is a total of 5 weeks long, but the initial meeting will be a one on one consultation with you and your dog and will be scheduled independently of the group class. Handlers must be at least 16 years of age. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age.

The foundation of all representational painting is the inclusion of light.  If you would like to fill your paintings with light and energy, and add life and vibrancy, this workshop is for you. Learn how to design your compositions to make a more exciting compelling painting.
  
Learn to "see", by painting from a still life set-up, or by working from your own photo references. 

You will learn the essentials of creating an inspired work of art by understanding the techniques used by master artists. We’ll cover composition, focal point, value structures, color, edges, line and more.  Paint quality and the dynamics of transparent vs. opaque paint will be covered. There will be a demonstration, discussions about materials, gentle critiques emphasizing problem solving and lots of individual attention.

This workshop is open to all skill levels and styles; some drawing or painting experience is recommended. The main emphasis is on oil painting, however all media are welcome.

American Heart Assoc. Heartsaver Course

Heartsaver® CPR AED is a classroom, video-based, instructor-led course that teaches adult CPR and AED use, as well as how to relieve choking on an adult. This course teaches skills with American Heart Association’s research-proven Practice-While-Watching (PWW) technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback and guide the students’ learning of skills. Course will be taught by life-saving professional with the New Haven EMS Department. Upon completion of this course, students receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver CPR AED Course Completion Card that is valid for two years.
